Welcome back to Blast Breakdown. In this series we will spotlight one player each week who stood out during this 2020 season and take a deeper dive into their numbers and take a look at some that really stand out. Today we take a look at the physically advanced primary backstop Jeffrey Diaz

Bat Speed: Jeffrey has advanced strength and athleticism in his actions at the plate and it shows in the bat speed he is able to produce. His peak registered at 77.9 MPH while averaging 72.1 MPH! Those are some big numbers for any high school player let alone a 2025 grad. This puts him in the college - pro range giving him a strong ground floor to hit for power.

Rotational Acceleration: Equally impressive if not even more is how efficiently he can use that power with a peak rotational acceleration of 28.5 G's and a average of 20.2 G's! This means he can accelerate into his bat speed extremely quickly allowing him to make later decisions than his peers and less susceptible to high spin fastballs and off speed pitches. The uncommitted '25 will be exciting to follow in the coming years.
