Commitment Spotlight
Background: Macdougall is a long, lean, 6-foot-6, 200-pound right-hander who is still very projectable with room to add more size and muscle to his frame. He works from a ¾ slot and is able to use his height and leverage to create downhill angles with his stuff. Fastball worked in the mid to upper 80’s and can spin the curveball well and use as a putaway pitch for the started out of the Abbotsford Cardinals. He mixes in a changeup that has some feel and will work well out of his arm slot as he continues to polish use that pitch more and more. Has been a trusted workhorse for the Cardinals, in 9 starts and 16 games last year he compiled 52 plus innings and an ERA below 3.00.
2018 Outlook: More of the same is expected out of McDougall this year as one of the senior arms on the staff, look for him to come out quickly in league play and be ready to go on his Arizona trip in March versus pro competition. McDougall was 84-86 the past week indoors with his typical stuff, look for the velo to jump as we get outside and into games here shortly. As he gets physically stronger, we can envision the tall righty to compete as one of the top arms in the province this year and set the path as he prepares for his first season at Northwest Florida State College in the fall of 2018.
