Arkansas Preseason All-State Stat Story

Prep Baseball Report Arkansas hosted the Preseason All-State in Conway that featured 55 players from all over the State coming from the 2022 class to the 2026 class.  Today we take a look at the leaders in traditional showcase metrics broken down by class with more to come in the coming days with breakdowns on the leaders in data collected by Trackman.  

The event featured 20 guys topping the 80 mph mark on the mound with 6 guys going 85+.  Leading the way at the event was 2024 Kel Busby at 89 mph with Easton Frazier leading the way for the 2023's at 87.5 mph.  Showing some arm strength from the freshman class was Ridge Southerland at 86.7 mph and Russ Martin at 85.9 mph.

The event featured 2 guys with blazing 60 times with Slade Caldwell from the 2024 class running a 6.62 and Christian Battles from the 2025 class coming in at 6.78.  In the infield there were 8 guys recording velos across the diamond at 80+ mph with Luke Cornelison showing some real arm strength from the 2025 class at 89 mph across.  Right behind him was McLane Moody at 86 mph and Zach Adams going 84 mph leading the way in the 2023 class and Jackson Privett topping the charts in the 2024 class at 82 mph.  In the outfield there were 12 arms that crossed the 80 mph mark with Christian Battles showing his arm off at 89 mph from the outfield in the 2025 class.  Slade Caldwell and Gavin Kelley topped the charts in the 2024 class at 87 mph and Mathew Guffey leading the way in the 2023 class at 84 mph.

Behind the plate there were 4 backstops that hit at least 2.0 in the pop times with Carter Alexander showing the best pop time at 1.97.  2022 Mason Pankey was 1.99-2.08 and Grayson Johnston led the way in the 2025 class at 2.00-2.07 with an impressive 77 mph radar gun reading from behind the plate.

Where the event really showed it's strength was in the batter's box where 33 total guys reached at least 85 mph in exit velocities with 12 guys reaching 90+.  Leading the way was 2025 Brox Mattox with a very impressive 99 mph showing some serious strength in the hands.  Right Mattox leading the way in the 2024 class was Slade Caldwell at 96 mph and Dalen Blanchard in the 2023 class at 95 mph.
