American Heritage (Plantation) holds off West Broward 2-1
April 6, 2023
Headed over to American Heritage (Plantation) to see the Pirates take on the West Broward Bobcats. This was Day 3 of my South Florida trip and the arms have not disappointed. Two D1 arms faced off, Jason Wachs for West Broward and Spencer Krasner for American Heritage. The freshman lefty was dialed in from the start, working a 1-2-3 top half with 2 strikeouts.

The @UVABaseball commit is in the conversation for my favorite arm I’ve seen this spring
Up to 87 in the 1st, settled in at 82-85 (2458)
Lots of s/m on the CB (2717)
Took a perfect game into the 5th, lost his no hitter in the 6th ?

The Patriots came out swinging in the bottom half as Jordan Rich led off with a single. Wachs looked as if he’d get out of the 1st unscathed when he got 2 quick outs back to back but with 2-outs, Lucas Ramirez singled to drive in Rich. Krasner continued to deal, working another 1-2-3 inning. American Heritage threatened in the 2nd as well, loading the bases but Wachs worked out of the jam. The 3rd was more of the same for Krasner, striking out 2 more. Mateo Serna led off the 3rd with a double.

The @MemphisBaseball commit jumps all over the FB and doubles to RCF.

Then with 2-outs and 2 runners on, Zain Diaco singled to right, driving in what looked to be 2 insurances runs for Heritage but right fielder Mason Elrod threw the 2nd runner out at the plate to end the inning.

Just like the previous 3 innings, Krasner worked another 1-2-3 inning with 2 strikeouts. Chris Levy would single but that would be all for the Patriots in the 4th. Krasner’s bid for a perfect game would end in the 5th inning with 2-outs, on a HBP. Reliever Andres Cruz went 1-2-3 in the 5th. Krasner’s no hitter was broken up in the 6th on a 1-out single to right field. The freshman finished his outing striking out his last batter with the tying run on 3rd and go ahead run on 2nd. In the 7th the Bobcats got on the board in the 7th when Mason Elrod led off with a home run. Brandon Vargas singled with 1 out to put the tying run on base. Closer Kyle Rostock got a strikeout and ground out to end the game.
