All-State Prospect ID Showcase: Pitchers Analysis

On Tuesday, June 9th, we hosted the All-State Prospect ID showcase at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. The event was open to all high school players and included; 2 (2015's), 13 (2016's), 19 (2017's), 23 (2018's) and 6 (2019's). Below we analyze the 26 pitchers from the event.
Top 5
Luke Albright, RHP, Fishers HS, 2018: The 6-foot-2, 190lb RHP showcased loose arm action. For a freshman, he has good feel for pitching. Pounded zone with FB at 83-84, T 86. FB has slight run. Delivery has smooth rhythm and easy arm action. His CB sat 70-71 with 10/4 shape. It has late break when throws it right. Luke’s CH was at 75-79 with some sink. Delivery is smooth and athletic. Good follow for 2018 class.
Dylan Steele, RHP, Bloomington North HS, 2019: The 6-foot-3 155 pound RHP has a good feel for pitching for his age. FB sat 78-80, topping out at 81. Arm action is quick and high ¾. He has some effort with smooth rhythm. CB has 11/5 shape with gradual break. Change-up was 69-72 with arm side run. He also threw a split with tumbling action. It will be interesting to see how he develops physically.
Wendell Mosteller,LHP, Avon HS, 2017: The 6-foot-1, 185 pound southpaw showcased a FB that sat 79-80 and touched 81. FB as some ASR and thrown for strikes. CB has gradual break with 2/8 shape at 63-66. He has short, quick arm action. His drop and drive delivery is close to max effort. He finishes athletically but release point was erratic. Change-up will needs refined. Changeup sat 72-74.
Brian Skelton, RHP, Westfield HS, 2017: The 6-foot-2, 205 pound righty sat 81-82, up to 83 on the bump. CB was a downer with gradual break at 68-70. Change-up was thrown at 73-75 with good arm speed. Delivery has long arm action and smooth rhythm. He finishes athletically.
Matt Olovich, RHP, Guerin Catholic, 2017: The 5-foot-10, 170 pound right-hander throws from a high ¾ arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has smooth rhythm and a long, quick arm action. Delivery has some effort. FB sat 79-82, topping out at 83. CB was erratic and has 12/6 break, topped at 66. CH was also erratic but showcased some sink at 70-72.
Best of the Rest (In Alphabetical Order)
Reagan Carter, RHP, Western HS, 2018: The 5-foot-9, 150 pound RHP sat 75-77. His delivery is smooth with level shoulders and finishes in line. CB was 63-64 with gradual break. Change-up sat 66-70 and was thrown wit FB arm speed. Arm action is loose. Reagan has an athletic frame and threw strikes.
Chad Colbert, RHP, Hamilton Southeastern HS, 2017: The 6-foot, 160 pound righty showcased a 75-77 mph FB, up to 78. He has some effort with a drop and drive delivery and high ¾ arm slot. He has a tendency to rush and fall off to the 3B side. CB was erratic but has a 11/5 shape and is thrown at 67-68. Showed more of a slider type breaking ball at 68-69.
Christian Curry. RHP, Whiteland HS, 2016: The 6-foot, 215 pound right-hander showcased a FB that sat 79-80, up to 81. His drop and drive delivery has some rhythm and stays in line. Arm action is long with a stab. Arm speed is above average. Breaking ball has a 10/4 shape with late break at 68-69mph. Change-up has ASR at 72-74.
Brandon Dunham,RHP, Dekalb HS, 2017: The 5-foot-11, 165 RHP showcased a FB that topped at 82, sat 79-80. He has a tilt/topple delivery with long arm action. He has some rhythm as keeps shoulders level and in line. CB sat 65-69 with gradual 11/5 shape. Change-up was 70-73. Threw strikes and showcased some ASR on change-up and fastball.
Braden Fiske, RHP, Michigan City HS, 2018: The 6-foot-3, 200 pound RHP has long arm action and throws from a high ¾ arm slot. His CB has 10/4 action at 61-62. Slider was 65-67. FB sat 74-76. He has more out of his lower half and will need to add arm speed.
Mark Goudy, RHP, Noblesville HS, 2018 : The 5-foot-7, 140 pound RHP throws from a H ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. He has a good balance point and keeps good rhythm. He has a drop and drive delivery. FB sat 78-79 . Mark’s CB has late 11/5 break and was thrown for strikes at 68-70. Change-up was 73-74 with some sink.
Logan Long, LHP, Frankton HS, 2016: The 6-foot-1, 200 pound southpaw has a high arm slot with smooth delivery. Arm action is long with average speed. FB sat 73-74, up to 76 with slight run. Breaking ball has 2/8 gradual break at 65-68. Brayden has a drop and drive delivery. He finishes in line and could make a velo jump if he adds arm speed.
Leighton Mennen, RHP, Lafayette Harrison HS, 2016: The 5-foot-11, 230 pound RHP sat 79-80, up to 81 with some run. His arm action is overtop with average arm speed. He has a good balance point and stays in line. CB sat 60-64 with gradual 12/6 break. CB was erratic but FB/CH were thrown for strikes.
Andrew Meschede, RHP, Morgan Township HS, 2017: The 6-foot-4, 220 pound RHP sat 78-79 and was thrown for strikes. CB was thrown with 11/5 shape and gradual break at 64-65. The change-up showed some sink at 75. Andrew has a tilt and topple delivery and finishes in line with level shoulders.
Casey Miller, RHP, Heritage Hills HS, 2017: The 6-foot-3, 180 pound RHP has a high ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. FB sat 77-80 with some cut. FB was erratic. The CB was thrown at 67-68 with downer action. His delivery has some effort. Casey has a drop and drive delivery and has a tendency to rush. Also flashed a slider 70-71.
Nathan Mullen, RHP, Bremen HS, 2019 : The 6-foot-2, 190 pound RHP showcased a FB that sat 75-76, touching 78 with some sink. His arm slot is high ¾ with average arm speed. He has a smooth delivery that stays in line with athleticism. CB has 10/4 shape and gradual break at 65-66. Threw strikes and a good feel for his delivery. Also throws a 61-62 mph knuckle ball.
Tyler O’Bryan, RHP, Hancock County HS, 2016 (KY): The 6-foot-6, 170 pound RHP showcased a FB at 70-72, touched 74. His CB had 11/5 gradual break at 53-55. His CH was 58-59. Arm action was high ¾. He has a good balance point and some rhythm. He has a tendency to fall off to 3B side.
Cameron Pitzer, RHP, New Palestine HS, 2018: The 5-foot-11, 145 pound RHP throws from a ¾ arm slot with easy effort. Arm action is loose. FB topped at 74. Slider showcased 10/4 break at 62-66. Change-up was 65-67 with some sink. Delivery was in line and finished athletically. He will need to add arm speed as he matures and fills in.
Lukus Rickelman, RHP, Heritage Hills, 2018: The 6-foot, 160 pound RHP has a lanky frame with a FB that sat 72-74. Arm action is long but stiff. He has some effort in a level delivery. CB has 11/5 shape with gradual break. His change-up sat 64-65 with some sink. Lukus stays in line and has good balance but will need to add arm speed as he matures.
Nick Rothrock,RHP, Fishers HS, 2017: The 6-foot-3, 165 pound righty showcased a FB that sat 76-78 with some late ASR. His tilt and topple delivery has easy effort. Nick stays in line and level. His CB was erratic with gradual break at 64-66. Change-up was thrown for strikes at 70-73 with arm side run. Solid actions on the mound.
Sam Santos, RHP, Noblesville HS, 2018: The 5-foot-9, 152 pound RHP sat 74-77, topping out at 78 with the FB. He has a high ¾ arm slot with a quick arm. Arm action is short. He has some effort in delivery but stays in line and level. CB was a downer at 60-64. Sam’s change-up was thrown at FB arm speed with ASR and sink at 64-68.
Max Sermersheim, RHP, Southridge HS, 2018: The 5-foot-11, 182 pound RHP showcased a strong frame. Arm action is stiff and a tendency to stab. His FB sat 71-72, up to 73 with some arm side run. CB has 10/4 gradual break at 58-61. Change-up was straight at 60-64. He has a drop and drive delivery with some rhythm.
Bricem Thompson, RHP, Castle HS, 2017: The 6-foot-2, 185 pound righty sat 76-78 with the FB. His delivery has average arm speed and throws from a H ¾ arm slot. He has some effort through his drop and drive delivery. CB is 65-67 with 12/6 break. His CH is 69-70 with some ASR and sink.
Zach Wells, Center Grove HS 2017, RHP: The 6-foot-3, 230 pound RHP sat 75-77 with his heavy FB. He has long arm action following a balanced load. Shoulders stay in line and level. CB sat 62-63 mph and the Change-up was 67-68 despite a slowed arm action. CB was erratic in the zone. He’ll need to get more out of lower half to add velocity.
Brayden White, RHP, North Putnam HS, 2017: The 5-foot-10, 210 pound righty sat 82-83, topping out at 84. CB was 66-67 with 11/5 shape. His slider has 10/4 shape at 72-74. Brayden has a high ¾ arm slot with long arm action. His drop and drive delivery has some rhythm and effort. Knuckleball was 67-69 with some late movement as well.
Nick Woodworth, LHP, Heritage Christian HS, 2018: The 5-foot-10, 124lb LHP showcased a hort arm action with some rhythm. He has a high ¾ arm slot and finishes athletically. His FB sat 64-66. CB was 56-57 with 2/8 gradual break. Nick threw strikes and could add some arm speed with maturity.
