2022 State Rankings Update
April 5, 2021
As we prepare for HS baseball action in Oregon for the first time in over a year, we will be releasing updated state rankings for the various graduating classes.
Although 2020 was anything but normal, players made the most of the opportunities they were handed when they could get out on the diamond.
Whether it was a local tournament, travel ball game or showcase opportunities, there were prospects to follow and watch develop.
This updated list expands to 80 prospects for the junior class. With a majority of junior players seeing varsity action for the first time this year, we expect to have plenty of movement and names to add with our future updates.
Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level.
Rankings are based off evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.
With a majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

Top 5 remains the same
The duo of RHP Isaac Hill (Hidden Valley) and OF Canon Reeder (Summit) hold down the 1-2 spots as we head into the 2021 season. The Oregon state commits have been fixtures towards the top of the rankings since we first started looking at this class. SS Cole Hubka (Wilsonville), retains the #3 spot after maintaining his success throughout the fall. The Utah commit remains as consistent as they come and looks poised for a highly productive junior year. Power bats Jackson Jaha (Clackamas) and Jacob Dodge (Southridge) stay at the 4-5 spots for now. But it might not be long till their ability to do damage at the plate forces some changes to the top half of this list.
familiar names at 6-9
The uber athletic Ely Kennel (Santiam Christian) rises up a few spots to #6 overall after a huge showing at the NW Pre-Season Invite in Centralia. The Oregon State commit has next level tools and might be on the cusp of a huge breakout year.
Oregon commit Ian Umlandt (Sherwood), Utah commit Mason Utech (Lakeridge) and Oregon State commit LHP Nelso Keljo (Jesuit) hold down the back half of the Top 10. Umlandt has a strong L/L profile and the ability to be an impact player both on the mound and at the plate. Utech has always been a smooth swinging lefty bat and versatile defender. His skills on the INF have really taken a step forward in the last year.
Keljo is continues to prove he’s one of the stronger, more physically advanced arms in the state and should be a very tough match-up for opposing offenses this year.
newcomer at 10
SS/RHP Ky Hoskinson (McMinnville/Cal State Bakersfield commit) cracks the Top 10 for the first time in our newest update. Hoskinson is another prospect who showed intriguing size and actions early on in his career and then took his game to the next level in the weight room and landed himself a commitment.
