2022 Big 12 Recruiting Classes
December 14, 2021
Prep Baseball Report is conducting its annual review of recruiting classes, in which Nathan Rode and Shooter Hunt evaluate the current senior talent committed to programs in each of the Power Five conferences, as well as notable mid-majors—or as we like to call them, Power Majors—and the draft risk each of those classes carry. Numbers in the charts below denote where players are ranked in the 2022 Overall Rankings.
BAYLOR
OVERVIEW: Texas has a strong crop of shortstops this year and Baylor snagged a couple of them. A wiry switch-hitter, Medellin has a balanced approach and feel for the barrel from both sides of the plate. Branch is a table setter on offense and plays well above his pure tools. OF Bode Grieve (Bishops HS, CA) has an athletic frame and a steep path with leverage from the right side. SS Michael McAloose (Canterbury School, FL) is a solid defender and moves confidently in the field. He has present bat speed and gets on plane early. RHP Collin McKinney (Clear Creek HS, TX) should add to his 88-91 fastball as he fills out his 6-foot-6, 210-pound frame.
DRAFT RISK: Low. The Bears have had back-to-back strong classes show up to campus and will only add to their depth with this group.
