2021 Top Prospect Games: Infielders Analysis

The 2021 Top Prospect Games were held at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, home of the Arizona State Sun Devils. The event featured many of the top players from the '21 class in the state, along with a few unknown names, that you'll want to pay attention to. 6’ 170 -pound frame with broad shoulders. Looks more physical than January event. Starts with feet outside shoulders, rocking into back side to load. Small stride forward to stay square. Middle approach, driving the ball gap to gap. Noticeably more bat speed with exit velo at 91 MPH. Good actions in the field with the ability to stay at SS. Arm strength at 85 across the diamond plays well from different angles needed, based on throws he makes. Footwork allows to work good hops and be in position to get rid of the ball as needed. 7.12 60.

5’9 145-pound frame. Had extra base hits from both sides of the plate in game play.  From the right side, which is the stronger of the to, he starts with a square stance with good rhythm in his hands. Hands set just above shoulder, keeping them back as he strides forward. Using a small leg kick to load into his back side. Middle approach with good balance. From the left side starts slightly open using a small leg kick to get back square in his stride. Exit velo at 84 MPH. Active feet in the infield. Quick twitch in all movements, including quick first step. Uses two hands to field the baseball, bringing it to center after fielding it. Arm strength at 83 MPH and will stay in the middle infield. 6.9 60.

6’1 160-pound frame with projectable frame and room for strength. Starts with a square stance, using small leg lift to land square. Creates separation by keeping hands back as he strides forward. Simple movements throughout swing, allow for consistent contact on the barrel. Exit velo at 87 MPH. Showed quick first step fielding ground balls. Good feel for timing to get rid of the baseball, kept it game like. Use of one and two hands depending on the lane the ball is caught in. Arm strength at 77 across the infield. 7.13 runner.
