Scouting Report

6/11/19
6’ 193-pound frame. Starts with square feet, rocking back to load into back side and uses leg kick to get back to square. Lands with soft front knee for adjustability. Keeps hands quiet throughout swing. Occasionally drifts too far forward, making it harder to rotate and match pitch plane. Exit velo at 91 MPH. Behind the plate, you’ll struggle to find a harder worker. Blocks everything regardless of runners on base or what pitch is thrown. Quick footwork around the baseball on throws to second with 1.95-2.07 pop times. Arm strength was at 75 MPH from the crouch.

1/27/19 Uncommitted 6’ 193-pound strong, physical frame. Spallina is the type of player, that despite even having good numbers, scouts will like even more after seeing him play. Toughness showed not only from taking a beating behind the plate but also blocking numerous balls at 1B during the game. Strength shows at the plate during his BP, making hard contact. Had good at bats during the game and showed good feel for 2k adjustments, fouling off tough pitches. Defensively, blocked everything and played with energy with pop times at 1.99-2.07.
