Let’s dive into the latest edition of Stock Watch, featuring four standout 2020 prospects from around the state.

Nick Ogden SS / 2B / Brookhaven, MS / 2020

Medium 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starts from a tall, slightly open stance and loads with a toe tap. Short stride, loose hands and early rhythm. Flat, rotational path into uphill finish through the zone posting an 88 mph exit velocity. Defensively, he created momentum to first with developing footwork and clean exchanges. Short 3/4 arm stroke with accuracy to first on throws, recording a positional velocity of 78 mph. Also showed athleticism for age and size posting a 7.18 60-yard dash.

Mac Sims RHP / SS / DeSoto Central, MS / 2020

Athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with room for added strength. Left-handed hitter starting from an open and tall setup with loose rhythm in hands. Loads with a quick, abbreviated leg kick into a short stride, slightly creating separation with hands. Loose, rotational path with quick hands and bat speed through the zone producing an exit velocity 81 mph. Defensively displayed fundamental footwork, moving with smoothness through the play with a clean exchange, and made low accurate throws from multiple arm slots producing a positional velocity of 82 mph. Ran a 7.6 60-yard dash. Right-handed pitcher throwing from multiple release points with fluid rhythm and easy effort in delivery. Works down mound with in-line direction, finishing athletically. With a medium arm stroke and quick hand speed, his fastball was 80-82 mph. Spun several sliders from a lower slot that showed late breaking action at 67-71 mph. Breaking ball was thrown at 58-61 mph and showed early 11/5 shape while change up was 70-71 mph.

Gentry Tigrett C / 2B / Brandon, MS / 2020

Medium 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame with present strength in lower half. Right-handed hitter starts from a neutral stance before he loads back. Short toe tap before striding forward as his hands separate. Loose hands, with rotational path and good extension through contact, produced an exit velocity of 83 mph. Behind the plate, gets low in setup while presenting large target. Directional footwork with a clean exchange, throws with a short arm stroke from a high slot, and pop times of 2.10-2.15 with a velocity from the crouch of 67 mph. Ran a 7.97 60-yard dash.

Drew Pendergrass 3B / 1B / Florence , MS / 2020

Lean, athletic 6-fot-2, 172-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starting from balanced, neutral setup. Creates separation with hands into a front arm-bar as he takes toe tap load, with short stride. Aggressive rotational swing with strength and uphill finish posting an 89 mph exit velocity. Defender that fields ball out front with slow, smooth footwork creating momentum towards first base. Clean transfer into short ¾ release with stiffness, produced a positional velocity of 75 mph. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash.
