2020 FL Preseason All-State Spotlight: Jack Cebert

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Preseason All-State has quickly become the top Preseason event in the state of Florida. Last year’s event consisted of over 50 committed players and 2 players who were selected in the 2019 MLB Draft. This event is held for the top 2020s-2023s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.

Preseason All-State is coming up this weekend and we will continue to spotlight many of the top players who will be in attendance. Today, we look at 2021 RHP Jack Cebert (Calvary Christian). Cebert was a standout this year's All-State Games at the University of Miami. The Stetson commit is ranked 75th in our Florida Class of 2021 rankings.

Scouting Report

7/27/19

Stetson recruit. Athletic body at 6-foot-2, 177 pounds. Worked 83-85, touching 86 with some cut action at times. Stayed out of the middle of the plate while peppering the corners with above average command. Secondary stuff was above average with good depth on the 68 mph breaking ball, and feel for 72-76 mph changeup. Displayed similar arm speed on the changeup. Worked with feel and rhythm on the mound.

2/13/19

Stetson commit. 6-foot-1, 165-pounds, right-handed pitcher, athletic frame, strong lower half. Long arm action, stab on back-side, high ¾ slot, quick arm speed. Drop and drive delivery, high leg kick, works on-line, lands toe-closed, finishes crossing over. Fastball sat 83-85, mostly straight, located low in zone. Curveball, 11/5 shape, late break, 67-71. Changeup, fade action, 77-78.

6/23/18

Uncommitted. Currently a wiry 6-foot-1 152 pound frame with plenty of room for added strength. Clean, repeatable delivery. His arm works well from a high 3/4 slot, high glove side adds noticeable deception. Present arm speed should allow for added velocity growth. Fastball worked 80-82 peaking at 83 mph. The pitch was fairly straight, but had life through the zone. Curveball was his out pitch. It had tight spin with late break and work 70-71 mph. Flashed a couple changeups at 73 mph with some fade. Expect to see Cebert make some jumps as he continues to add to his frame and mature. High upside arm that should be followed. Good student 4.0 GPA
