2019 Arkansas Rankings Released

Arkansas Scouting Director
After a long spring and summer, our staff is proud to release the 2019 rankings. The rankings have been expanded from the initial rankings of 25 to 50 players.
The No.1 spot remains the same with RHP/OF Blake Adams. Adams had an impressive year impacting Har-Ber High School’s everyday lineup as an outfielder and a DH. The Wildcats made a run to the state semi-finals. During the summer Adams found innings more readily available and saw increase in his fastball. At area code try-outs in early June his fastball worked into the low 90’s. Adams picked up an offer and committed to Arkansas later in the summer. As of right now the plan is for Adams to continue his collegiate career as a two way player.
He is followed in the rankings by No. 2 C Cason Tollett. Tollett makes the jump from No. 3 to No. 2 after a big spring, hitting in the middle of the order for Little Rock Christian Academy. He also split time behind the plate, helping to stabilize a pitching staff, which was key in the Warriors winning the ultra-competitive 5A west. Tollett is a sound offensive player, his advanced feel behind the plate sits him apart not only from this class but from most high school catchers. Tollett also committed to Arkansas late in the summer.
There were three new comers to the top 10 with No. 5 Zach Morris LHP Cabot HS, No. 7 Kirby Jenkins Har-Ber HS and No. 8 RHP Mckaden Templeton HS. Morris moved up the rankings from No. 18 to 5 after getting thrown in the mix for Cabot this spring logging valuable innings, showing advanced pitch ability and projectable frame. Jenkins moves into the top 10, beginning to separate himself as versatile infielder with a feel for the barrel, along with projecting to be a physical player. Templeton burst onto the ranking after a big spring for Mounties. He pitched out of the No.2 spot for Rogers as they advanced to the State Tournament. Templeton received a start in the first round of the state tournament. Pitching 82-84 mph with an advanced feel for his breaking ball.
Overall this class will be intriguing to watch over the next few years, while my staff and I have more time to research and watch these players develop. As with all classes it will be who lives up to projections and works enough to surpass our expectations.
