With the beginning of the season just a month away, Prep Baseball Report has released the initial rankings for Arkansas Class of 2017. This is a talented class with four dual position players in the top 10 ranked players.
LHP Hunter Milligan leads this class. Milligan is a 6-foot-4 195-pound LHP from Greenbrier HS. The left-hander has a large frame and an athletic build. He works from a high ¾ arm slot and a quick clean arm. He uses a low 90’s fastball down in the zone to get hitters out. He compliments his fastball with a curveball and changeup. Milligan is committed to Mississippi State. Coming in at number 2 is OF/RHP Evan Hooper, from Cabot HS. Hooper has a medium frame with an athletic build. He is a premium athlete that runs a 6.51 in the 60. In the outfield Hooper possess a strong arm throwing 83 mph. Offensively his athleticism is shown off with fast bat speed registering 86 mph exit velocity. His swing is raw at this point getting long at times but he finds barrel consistently. On the mound he uses a fastball 83-84 mph with arm side run and an advance feel for a change up with arm-side run. Hooper is uncommitted but garnering interest from multiple schools.
Rounding out the top 10 are RHP, Paxton Wallace 1B/RHP (Greenbrier HS), Logan Easley RHP/INF (Heritage HS), Adrian Hannah 3B (Searcy HS), Caleb Kimbrel OF (Har-Ber HS), Casey Martin, MIF (Lonoke HS) Kolby Reck, MIF (Conway HS) Dalton Reeves, LHP (Mulberry HS) and David Rainwater, RHP (Sheridan HS).
