Jackson Prep/Hartfield

JACKSON - It was a gorgeous evening in Jackson for the midweek matchup between Jackson Prep and Hartfield Academy. Tuesday game featured solid pitching performances that limited the offensive production. Today we look at a few notable performers from the action.

The story of the night was 2021 RHP Riley Maddox (Jackson Prep) who was in control from the very first pitch, attacking the zone, and threw five shutout innings. Maddox struck out five hitters while allowing only two hits and one walk. Had very smooth actions on the mound and was able to repeat delivery throughout outing, throwing from a ¾ arm slot with a solid two-pitch mix. He had control of fastball at 84-85, with occasional sink while his curveball had 11/5 shape, was late to break with occasional tight actions at 73-74. He worked with an easy tempo, and managed to control the flow of the outing.
