We started our our march toward the Super 60 earlier this month, by highlighting the prospects set to join us, shining a light on their impressive player profiles that they've groomed through their high school years and beyond.

Scouting Report

9/01/20

Long, unique low-¾ arm action. Malec hides the ball well and his fastball jumps on batters. Sat 88-89 topping out at 92 mph in the 5th inning. He complimented his fastball with a nasty 10-4 slider with a lot of movement. Malec also successfully used his 83-84 mph changeup that has sink to the arm side. Legit 3 pitch mix. Minnesota commit.

7/24/20

A thin 6-foot, 155-pound athlete with a live arm, electric arm speed, with relatively low effort. Malec exploded out of the gate with 89-91 mph stuff, up to 92, but even more impressively landed a sharp, late-biting slider 76-79 mph. Malec also utilized a fading change at 80-81 mph that he used more often to left-handed hitters. Still, Malec attacked batters from both sides of the plate using the slider at will. He K'd nine in five innings without allowing a walk, and let up just two hits. He held the velocity well, sitting 87-88 mph late into the start, highlighting the way he's harnessed his dynamite stuff.
