Trackman Files (Hitting): Team Louisiana Scout Day

Abbeville, LA - The Team Louisiana Scout Day was held on Sunday May 26, 2024, at A.A. Comeaux Park.  This was our second Scout Day event of the summer and consisted of prospects from the 2024-2028 high school classes from the Team Louisiana organization.  All players in attendance went through an extended pro-style workout, that included batting practice using Trackman, defensive evaluations, the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more.

Today, with the help of one of our tech partners, Trackman Baseball, we continue our post-event coverage with a closer look at the top Trackman metrics and data from the position players in attendance at last Sunday's Team Louisiana Scout Day.

PEAK EXIT VELOCITY (HITTING)

Exit Velocity: This metric measures the speed of the ball, measured in miles per hour, as it comes off the bat at the moment of contact.

 

PEAK ESTIMATED BATTED DISTANCE (HITTING)

Distance: This metric measures the estimated “carry flat” distance, measured in feet, meaning the distance that the ball travels before it lands, or would have landed if it were not caught or obstructed.

 

EXIT VELOCITY (AVG.)

Exit Velocity: This metric measures the speed of the ball, measured in miles per hour, as it comes off the bat at the moment of contact.

 

SWEET SPOT%

Sweet Spot percentage: This metric is determined by how often the player produces a batted ball during the session with a launch angle between 8 to 32 degrees.

HARD HIT %

Hard Hit percentage:  This metric is determined by the percentage of batted balls that the player produces with an exit velocity of 90 mph or higher.

LINE DRIVE %

Line Drive percentage: This metric is determined by the percentage of line drives hit during a given set of batted ball events.  Trackman defines a line drive as any batted ball with a launch angle between 10 and 24.9 degrees.
