LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball hosted the latest edition of its prestigious Future Games and Junior Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA., featuring the country's best uncommitted talent.

And for the first time ever, the Future Games hosted not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who participated in the inaugural Senior Future Games.

On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing the 2025, 2026, and 2028 grad classes participated in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches - over 425 in total -  alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.

Today, we continue spotlighting the uncommitted talent who made up Team California at the 2024 Future Games. Next, we take a look at '26 INF/RHP Kai Van Scoyoc of Palos Verdes High School. An intriguing 6'1 2-way prospect who shows potential as both a right handed hitting up the middle INF defender who collected multiple in-game hits. As well, Van Scoyoc brings an upper 80's FB that touches the low 90's with power breaking balls.

Scouting Report

7/23/24

Kai'nalu Van Scoyoc, Palos Verdes High (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Rising two-way prospect who continues to show intriguing potential as RH hitter and RH pitcher.
Body: 5-11, 149-pounds. Athletic wiry build with high hips and projects to add strength across frame
Delivery: Easy mover on the mound who shows athleticism and body control. Knee lift will come up to belly button high with small hip coil and hands raise from belly button to chest height to sync with his knee lift. Small sit into the back hip before leading down the mound with his front side into foot strike. Can clean up his lead leg block to stay over his front side more consistently, but lower 1/2 works in delivery with ability to generally stay online to the plate.
Arm Action: RH. Depth in arm swing coming down below his belt while staying behind his body in the path which works up to a high 3/4 slot with loose easy quickness to the arm speed. Does feature some recoil after release.
FB: FB has both ride and run to it based on whether he is elevating or working down in the zone. Gives him ability to throw it to all 4 quadrants, but plays best down in the zone with run to set up his offspeed offerings.
CB: CB shows potential with some depth to it, but presently is a softer cross count offering with some loop to the break.
SL: SLD is a tight sharp high spin pitch with swing/miss plus chase movement. Is aggressive with the pitch and throws it with confidence. Flashes above average quality.
ATH: Stays low while building up to top speed with ability to generate length and quickness in his running stride.

Hit: RHH. Narrower taller set up with small knee bend and vertical upper body slightly open on front side. Low back elbow with hands set above the rear shoulder around ear height with waggle in his hands prior to load. Small rearward shift with a toe tap back before going into the forward move with a small stride. Uses a barrel tip with the bat to load his hands rearward with some length to front arm push back. Aggressive lower 1/2 in the turn portion and does a good job of sinking into his rear leg at contact. Path and hands show quickness with uphill swing that will get lift and carry to the middle and pull side of the field.
Power: Shows sneaky impact with EVs into the mid 90' range with the ability to get the baseball in the air. Present strength and bat speed plays as doubles from middle to pull side with HR potential to the pull side.
Arm: RH. INF-89 mph. Quick arm stroke that moves back to shoulder height before going forward. Has arm speed with strength on his throws that show carry to the base. SS arm strength.
Defense: Will flash the actions in his footwork, hands and body control that projects to SS potential, but can be inconsistent at times with footwork/hands that will need polish to stick there. Can handle 2B/3B at solid to impact levels.
ATH: Stays low while building up to top speed with ability to generate length and quickness in his running stride.
