8/10/14 Lucas went 5-for-6 with a double and two RBI during game play to earn MVP honors for the Gold Team. The 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and strides slightly closed. He gets out of the box well and plays the game hard. The uncommitted senior ran a 7.38 60-yard dash and showcased good range defensively with a 77 mph arm. Lucas takes good routes to the baseball and gets good jumps and projects as a center fielder at the next level.
2/15/14 Lucas is a 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitter that displayed improved mechanics at the plate. The junior barreled the baseball routinely during his round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Lucas showcased his athletic potential with a 3.97 home-to-1B time from the right side of the plate and displayed fluid actions in the field. He also displayed a fluid transfer and an accurate arm on throws of 80 mph to home plate.
1/12/14 Lucas showed raw athleticism and room for continued maturation. He began the day by turning in the top home-to-1B time of the day at 4.00 from the right side of the plate. The 6-foot, 165-pound junior displayed athletic actions in the outfield and solid straight line carry on throws of 77 mph. At the plate, Lucas used a square stance and a high hands load to produce a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Lucas has some mechanical issues with his swing that are minor, but that could allow for added barrel whip. His athleticism is evident in all that he does and makes him an interesting follow in the Class of 2015.
