7/31/14: 5-foot-9, 155 pound, LHP/1B, throws from a three-quarters slot and has a very smooth delivery that is on line. He does a good job of getting out over his front leg and reaching an athletic finish to his delivery. West’s fastball sat 75-77, reached 78, and had some late running action to it. He threw a good, late breaking 2/8 slider that ran 64-66. West also threw a sinking change-up that ran from 70-72. He commanded all three pitches extremely well. At the plate, West had a balanced set up with high hands. He had a very quiet rhythm and a short stride. From that set up, he created above average bat speed (82 mph exit velocity). Showed the ability to spray line drives around the field. In the field, West was fundamentally sound with soft hands and an average release. He stayed low to the ground at all times and moved well laterally.

West commanded his sinking fastball down in the zone, sitting 76-77. He threw a gradual, 2/8 breaking slider with decent armspeed that ran 64-65. He also threw a fading change-up with decent armspeed that he commanded well at the bottom of the zone and ran 71-73.
