7/31/14: 6-foot-0, 190 pound, 1B/OF hit from a wide balanced stance with high hands. Had very little movement in his stance/hands which caused a slight arm bar. Took a direct hand path to the baseball and showed "Outstanding" bat speed (86 mph exit velocity) and power to his pull side. In the infield, Ortega moved well laterally and was fundamentally sound. At times he fielded the too deeply which caused his hands to get hard. Had the ability to put his body in position to make all the throws needed at 1B. In the outfield, Ortega showed a long loose arm that was accurate. Had the ability to get through the baseball with an average release.
