02.14.18 Burgess has a projectable pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-5, 180-pounds. The right-hander works from a high slot with a long arm swing. His fastball sat 86-87 mph in the first inning, settling into the 83-86 mph range. The pitch flashes tilt and arm side run. His curveball had loose spin and 11/5 shape at 65-67 mph. His changeup was 75 mph.

05.18.17 - 6-foot-5, 180-pound, projectable, long-limbed, high-waisted frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a medium arm circle and clean arm stroke. His fastball was 88-90 mph early, touching 91 mph once. The fastball has steep downward angle at times and exploded on hitters. The sophomore commanded the pitch well on Thursday night. His curveball was 71-74 mph with 11-5 shape and a slight hump out of the hand, look for this pitch to improve as he continues to develop. Burgess went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, three punchouts and one walk.
