7/26/17

6-foot-2, 210-pound, wide, thick, large, strong athletic frame. Shows to have strength throughout, is well proportioned. One of the more powerful hitters at this event, continues to improve. A left-handed hitter, the hands are held just above the back shoulder, feet are set closer together, stance is taller. The lower half is under control, gains ground with stride foot, transfers weight from the back side to the front. The swing is down to level to up, its short in the beginning and gets long after contact is made. The barrel stays in the zone a long time, approach is more to the pull side, tee exit velocity was clocked at 91 mph, baseball jumped off the bat in batting practice session. Look for Zachary to hit with above average power down the road. Defensively, works off the bag well at first base, feet are clean and crisp. The hands looked to be soft on throws to first, showing advance picks on the backhand play. The arm action is short, throws from his ear, clocked at 70 mph across the diamond. Good, large target to throw to.

Home-First: 5.06

Exit Velocity: 91 MPH

Arm Velocity: 70 MPH

7/19/16

On the mound, showed a loose ¾ arm slot with a methodical delivery. The fastball has arm side run to it, touching 71 mph. The breaking ball is big, sitting at 61 mph. The changeup was straight and touched 66 mph. The delivery has a coil at the top, pull of the glove side and good direction with his feet. Throws strikes and competes. As a positional player, ran a 5.5 down the line on a dig. The bat has some life to it, as it is his best tool, in my opinion. Tee exit velocity of 81 mph. The bat path works as the hands are loose and he gets the barrel to the zone. Hits with a small toe tap, slight wrap of the bat and even feet. When the body matures and he gets stronger, I would bet the bat could really have thump to it. Interesting follow as a hitter. 1.75 to the plate from the stretch.

3/2/16
6-foot-1, 215-pound thick, durable pitcher’s frame. The lower half is strong and back is wide. A left-handed pitcher, hands start mid chest, they work down in rocker step and come back up with leg raise, the leg raise has a small coil to it. The arm action has some length to it on the backside, but works fluidly through release. The arm works out of a natural ¾ slot, fastball was 64-67 mph, threw strikes to both sides of the plate. The curveball was 54-56 mph spin was ok, had 1/7 break to it. The change up is a good pitch showed proper spin and fade to it and was thrown at 62-63 mph with solid arm speed to sell it. The delivery is repeatable, tempo is slow, but quickening up might help the velocity.

1/18/16
Left-handed hitting first baseman who showed a solid glove and awareness around the bag. Threw 64 mph across the infield. Ran a 8.4 60-yard dash and needs to improve that. The bat had a tee exit velocity of 75 mph, with potential to add plenty to that. The setup is even and the barrel finds the ball. He does lose bat as he covers the strike zone due to him pulling off the ball. The head does tilt as he swings the bat and he needs to keep his eye on the same plane. The bat has some potential with tweaking, as he matures.
