8/20/17

6-foot-1, 140-pound, thin, long, lengthy athletic frame. The neck is long, shoulders are squared off, has room to fill out. The top tool is his ability to really swing the bat, the hands and swing are loose, work freely, barrel has life to it out front.  The feet are slightly wider than shoulder width, slightly open, hands are set at shoulder height with bat starting in a flat tilted position.  For timing, lower half is under control, uses a small knee to knee leg kick. The hands have separation from the body, stay back and gets on his back side, weight doesnt leak forward. The swing is flat through the zone, gets extension out front, finishes with two hands at shoulder height. The approach was more to the pull side, took a solid round of batting practice. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 81 mph, collected two singles in game play. Time down the line was ok at 4.56, look for that to improve, showed a solid athletic kick. Defensively, arm was clocked at 77 mph, arm is longer on the back side, works out of a higher slot. Attacked well, transfer was clean, stride was short, threw the baseball downhill, on target to receiver. Off the mound, fastball reached 75 mph, worked down in the zone, to both sides of the plate. The curve ball reached 68 mph, had good feel was able to drop it in for strikes. The delivery is slower paced, has and easy leg raise, stays tall throughout. Repeats it for the most part, the finish could have more extension, will aid in the velocity.  Big time follow for me with the bat, look for him to hit at a high rate at some point.

Home-first: 4.56

Exit Velocity: 81 MPH

Arm Velocity: 77 MPH
