6/18/14 Ruggieri went 2-for-5 in game play over two days with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. The left-handed hitter displayed the ability to use all fields and a balanced swing during a solid round of batting practice as well. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound uncommitted senior showed capable actions at 3B with throws of 76 mph across the diamond and ran a 7.25 60-yard dash.
2/15/14 Ruggieri demonstrated good balance and the ability to use all fields from a square stance. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitter registered a 4.22 home-to-1B time and a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Ruggieri demonstrated the ability to make all plays at 3B with a quick release, but will need to improve his arm strength (72 mph) moving forward to remain at the hot corner.
1/12/14 Ruggieri showed potential from the left side of the plate with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound junior squared the baseball repeatedly utilizing a wide base and a strong lower half to create barrel whip. Ruggieri has a flat bat path through the zone allowing him to stay on plane throughout his swing. He showcased the ability to make all plays defensively with a 67 mph arm across the diamond. He will need to continue to develop his arm strength to stay at 3B.
