6/13/12 Abbs showed excellent control of a sinking fastball and change up. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound right handed pitcher threw three pitches from a low 3/4 arm delivery with good movement. The consistent strike thrower topped out at 77 mph with his fast ball. Abbs was also impressive offensively showcasing a stong lower half and short swing path that generated consistent line drives with gap power.
8/15/12
Abbs showed solid angles to the baseball and above average arm strength (75mph) on throws to first base. He displayed soft hands and good range as well. Offensively Abbs shined, lining ball after ball to the gaps and squaring up nearly every pitch. His bat exit speed of 80mph was near the top of all prospects at the event.
The 5-foot-10, 185 pound RHP/3B had a bullpen session that would make a pitching coach proud. The 5-foot-10,185 pound right hander consistently pounded the strike zone with an array of pitches that were down in the zone and on the corners. Abbs best pitch was a 67mph sinking changeup that showed late downward action and significant arm-side run. He coupled the pitch with a 76mph fastball out of a 3/4 arm angle and a 67mph curveball to demonstrate a solid assortment of pitches.
