8/18/13 Cortese has a loose arm at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds and shows signs of increased velocity to come. At times he falls to the first base side losing some velocity. He sat 81-83, touching 84 early and displayed a 66 mph 11/5 breaking curveball. Cortese is extremely athletic and should continue to add to his frame allowing for additional velocity moving forward.

He showcased an 84 mph arm and athletic actions from the outfield. Cortese made a throw from right center field to cut down a runner attempting to stretch a single into a double and turned in an 87 mph bat exit velocity. He went 0-for-4 in game action, but squared the baseball in two of his at bats.
6/18/13 Cortese impressed in all facets of the game. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect ran a 7.07 60-yard dash, and showed athletic actions in the outfield with an 86 mph throwing arm. The left-handed hitter had one of the top bat exit velocities of the day at 89 mph and turned in a solid round of batting practice. Cortese has a flat bat path through the zone, gets to extension regularly and showcased some gap power. The long limbed righty went on to impress on the mound sitting 83-85 out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Cortese struggled with control of his 11/5 breaking curveball that sat 69-71, but did show a quality split changeup at 70 mph.
