Infield Velocity
The athlete's maximum throwing velocity from an infield position in the given event year. Measured in miles per hour (MPH).
81.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Slender, rangy build at 6-foot-1 160 pounds. The RHH middle infielder ran a 7.31 60. Offensively- Even setup with a quiet, controlled load/stride; stays behind the ball with a short stroke into the zone; flat path with line drive results. As his frame fills out look for some gap strength to start to show through. Exit velocity was 82 MPH. Defensively- Smooth, slikly actions up the middle. Can extend his range laterally to his glove side. Clean transfers on the double plays and and can vary arm slots. Starting to gain arm strength that will play from the left side at 82 MPH across the diamond.
Procase (February 10, 2018)
6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. Thin railed frame as of now, physical strength is needed to aid the development of his game. Ran a 7.37 sixty on the laser at the event. The movements and gait are athletic, I would assume an improvement of foot speed is coming. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 73 mph as physical strength is a must for this young frame. The setup is wide with his feet, high back elbow and a bat wrap to start the swing. The path is long to the ball, mostly because strength is needed. The hands work clean and he has a feel for staying in his legs as the ball approaches. The glove is solid in the infield, soft and the approach is done well. Threw 78 mph across the diamond with accuracy and solid footwork to and through the ball.
NY State Open ID (January 31, 2016)
David is a lanky 5-foot-11 140 pound middle infielder who ran a 7.81 60 and a dead ball 4.30 home-to-1B. Offensively- David sets up in a even and balanced stance with a bit of a bounce into his load and stride. Hands start back a bit late, near the end of his stride occasionally tying himself up. When they got back earlier he was in a much stronger launch position. Stays behind the ball and flashed an aggressive lower half. Stays short into the zone with and extended two hand finish. Line drive/middle of the field results. Exit velocity was down today at 66 MPH, possibly due to lack of separation. Will retest. Defensively- Plenty of confidence as a defender. Hangs back some with his prep step but stays active with his feet to and through the ball. Hands are out in front and staying soft into his transition. Arm strength played well from the left side and arm strength has bumped up to 73 MPH (from 69 MPH over the summer). Nice skill set for the 2019 grad, continued game experience and physical gains will go a long way for him over the next few years.
PA Underclass Games (June 24, 2015)
David stands 5-foot-9, 130-pound right-handed hitter. Hit from slightly open stance with minimal lift-and-replace stride. Due to youth and lack of physicality, was a bit overmatched offensively in game action. In BP, exhibited a balanced, inside-out stroke with good backside rotation. Ran a 7.82 60-yard dash and multiple 5.03 in-game home-to-1B times. Showcased 74-mph exit velocity and 69-mph arm strength. Would like to see him play lower to the ground in order to field the ball out front more consistently.
