9/14/14 Shaffer showcased a 79 mph bat exit velocity and a direct swing path while going 1-for-4 in game action from the right side of the plate. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound junior ran a 7.65 60-yard dash and displayed the ability to make plays on the move defensively. The junior showed enough arm strength in game action to play on the left side of the infield and made multiple difficult plays look routine. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed hitter displayed a short swing path and the ability to barrel the baseball with consistency during batting practice with a 79 mph bat exit velocity.
7/8/14 Shaffer is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed hitter that starts from a square stance with a high hands load. The junior barreled the baseball routinely during a solid round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Shaffer displayed a soft glove hand and fluid actions defensively with the ability to play through the baseball. He should see improvements in his 75 mph arm across the diamond and his foot speed (7.85 60-yard dash) as his athletic frame continues to fill out.
1/12/14 Shaffer displayed a wide stance and a high hands load in a solid round of batting practice. The right-handed hitter has a short swing path with a very solid lower half that allowed him to barrel the baseball repeatedly with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Shaffer showed athletic actions in the infield with the ability to play through the baseball. The 5-9, 150-pound middle infielder showcased accurate throws of 72 mph across the diamond.
