7/25/15 Abel continues to show signs of continued maturation. The 5-foot-10, 145-pound lefty sat 74-76 from a 3/4 arm slot showing a continued uptick in velocity. The uncommitted senior displayed fluid, repeatable mechanics with solid command of his fastball down in the zone. Abel commanded his complimentary pitches as well showcasing a 63 mph slider that has that he throws repeatedly to the back foot of right-handers and a changeup at 64 mph at fastball arm speed.

2/15/15 Abel begins his delivery with a short, sideways rocker step into a chest-high leg kick and gets good extension out front from his three-quarter slot. He threw lots of strikes and showed an especially good feel for his 11/5 breaking ball at 61-63. His fastball registered at 70-71 and his change-up, thrown with the same delivery and the same armspeed, at 60-61 has a chance to be effective.

1/17/15 Abel is a 5-foot-9, 130-pound lefty that has shown steady strides. The junior sat 73-75 our of a 3/4 arm slot and commanded his fastball down in the zone. Abel showed a feel for a 62 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation and a 65 mph changeup thrown at similar arm speed to his fastball. Abel has repeatable mechanics and gets a lot out of his frame. As his body continues to mature he is likely to continue to see velocity gains.

2/16/14 Abel sat 66-68 from a high 3/4 arm slot with simple, repeatable mechanics. The sophomore gets to his balance point consistently and demonstrated the ability to command three pitches for strikes. Abel's best pitch currently is a 59 mph curveball that has tight rotation. The lefty also flashed a changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed that sat 61-63.

1/20/14 Abel is a 5-foot-8, 125-pound left-handed hitter that starts from a slightly closed stance. The sophomore showcased a 68 mph bat exit velocity from the tee. Abel ran an 8.06 60-yard dash and displayed an accurate 66 mph arm from the outfield. The lefty sat 68-70 from the mound out of a 3/4 arm slot. Abel also commanded a 60 mph 11/7 breaking curveball with tight rotation and a 63 mph changeup that showed some arm side run.
