Mahoney, now listed at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, is a solid player across the board as the fundamentals are there in most facets of the game. At the plate, uses the whole field, bat path works to ball with slight lift, lots of line drives in BP, will get into one now and then with gap power, saw the ball well during game action with quality swings at good pitches to hit. Defensively, comfortable approach behind the plate, moves well side to side, still room to get quicker but actions are clean, hands work well with softness to them with proper blocking technique, will be online and accurate with throws but did have some tailing action when rushed. All around solid player who plays with baseball IQ and game knowledge.
60-Yard Dash: 7.70
Exit Velocity: 84
C Velocity: 74
Pop Time: 2.03

Mahoney has done a solid job of adding size since last time we saw him, now at 175-pounds with some added strength. Seemed to pay off at the plate with a quicker bat and more finish to his swing. Worked with a small leg kick to separation. Stayed balanced in his swing and was able to get bat head out front with some lift in his finish. Hands stayed back and in a good position to hit creating torque in his swing. Exit velocity was 84 mph. Defensively, moves well behind the plate and stays quiet while receiving. Feet work and shows some quickness, arm was clocked at 71 mph while he was between 2.06 and 2.12 in his pop time. Ability to improve arm and stay online will help Mahoney with his throws to second. Played hard during UC Games and is scrappy player with knowledge of the game.

10/26/14
5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with some strength and athletic actions. From the infield, Mahoney fielded the ball out front with a short transfer. Arm action was short from a ¾ slot and 74 mph across the infield. Behind the plate, lower half moved well, showed some athleticism. Tendency to receive with both hands and a low transfer. Pop time was 2.08 while velocity was 72 mph. At the plate, starts from even stance, rock to load, hands ready to hit. Better when body and hands stay level, tendency to come up on finish. Produced solid contact. Exit Velocity was 83 mph showing some hand speed and strength, 40 time was 5.30.
