A young 5-foot-8, 135-pound right-handed pitcher with a need to get stronger as he continues to mature. Simple delivery with quick and clean arm action and good pace on the mound, Kalmin works from a natural ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits between 77-79 mph, the 2020 classman is able to hit his spots down in the zone to either side of the plate. Shows some feel for secondary stuff - curveball has 11/5 shape with gradual break at 65-67 mph, while changeup looks to be his better offspeed pitch with nice fading action down in the zone. With added strength, Kalmin will get on the radar of college coaches in the coming years.

Kalmin, a two-way player prior, was strictly on the mound this day, worked with clean action in the back and some whip out front. Showed feel for his curveball and would throw in any count, had mix between 10/4 and 11/5 shape, rotation was true and worked it off his fastball. Was able to keep the ball on the ground in game, filled the zone for the most part, easy temp delivery as he stays in control of body, more to come from Kalmin as he continues to develop.

Young 2020 prospect listed at 5-foot-8, 125-pounds. Ran a 7.43 in lasered time 60-yard dash. Defensively, was 68 mph across the infield from 3/4 slot, arm was clean with short transfer, can develop angles and footwork to baseball, at times would sit back. Hits from the right side of the plate with a small, narrow stance that is slightly crouched. WEight transfers well to contact, can get more extension through ball, at times would cut swing off, had an exit velocity of 67 mph. On the mound, worked with slow tempo with slight hesitation at the top of his delivery, arm was loose and was able to work out front. Fastball was 71 mph while he flashed feel with off speed stuff. Still young and developing, will keep an eye on Kalmin to see how he progresses in the future.
