5-foo10, 180-pound 2017 grad with physicality and strength currently. Two-way player who worked both as a catcher and pitcher during the UC Games. At the plate, Underwood starts wide and balanced, with a slight toe turn to stride. Hands are up and load back, tendency to collapse and hinder himself and his extension through the baseball. Exit velocity was 79 mph, more in there with his strength and size. Behind the plate, Underwood showed some arm speed and quickness. Would get long with his arm on transfer and into separation. Being able to shorten that up will be big asset for him. Feet and hands were average, can work on exploding through with legs and shorter/quicker transfer. On the mound, worked from high-3/4 arm slot, naturally looks like he can be 3/4, tends to fall off first base side creating arm to stay up. Fastball was in low 70's while he showed he can spin a curveball with proper action on the ball and 12/6 shape between 62-65 mph. Was his best pitch on the day and hitters had some tough swings against it.
