Stam, an unsigned senior left-handed pitcher, listed at 6-foot, 190-pounds works with a repeatable delivery and filled the zone up with three pitches. The delivery is under control with a slower tempo, allows him to stay online and finish his pitches out front. Fastball worked in the 78-79 range with downhill angle, curveball had 1/7 shape with downward action and some depth at the end. Changeup had feel with good separation from his fastball and fading action to his arm side. Crafty lefty who can change speeds and fill it up, can fit into the bullpen with the right college program and be a guy who can attack lefties with three pitches.
Stam is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound left-hander with room for added strength gains. Repeated delivery, hides the ball well and filled up the strike zone during his outing. Worked out of a high-3/4 arm slot, with down and up arm action in the back, was able to repeat release point and work to both sides with his fastball that sat in the low 70's. Had feel for his changeup which complemented his fastball with arm side run. Limited viewing of the breaking ball in his inning of work. Stam should see increased velocity as he matures and becomes stronger.
