Defensively, Fountain has clean actions behind the plate, soft hands, quick release on throws to second with a pop time of 1.95 while showcasing his 75 mph arm. He gains ground and is very natural with his throws. At the played he displayed a 74 mph exit velo, starts from an upright stance, hands high, starts them back and keeps them there through his load He begins with weight on his back side, sits down a little as he swings, but stands back up a little through his finish. Fountain has an opportunity to be a plus defender, and with added size, his bat should catch up to his glove.
