Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Very interesting arm. Big frame lefty that stands 6-foot-4, 225-pounds. Delivery has room to clean up but there’s a lot to like as well. One of those guys who uses the fastball to setup the breaking ball and for good reason. Spins a big, sharp 1/7 shaped offering that hitters from both sides of the plate had trouble with. Tosses the offering with obvious feel, starting it in or out of the zone to end up painting either side of the plate.
2/18/18
6-foot-4, 225-pound lefty with thick, solid frame. Starts offset to the right side of the rubber. Small rocker step into leg lift with inward turn. Fastball shows natural, late cut at 76-77 mph. Comes out easy. More velocity to come. Breaking ball is effective out pitch at 68-70 mph with hard 1/7 break. Throws changeup with good arm speed at 73-74 mph. Mostly straight movement. Two-way prospect. Middle of the lineup type bat form the left side. Displayed imrpessive strength to his hands with above average bat speed through the zone. Ball flight was inconsistent due to in/out path. Should see easy backspin by adding loft to swing. Ball comes off very well when he squares it up. Showed the raw physical tools to be a run producer. At first base he showed above average glove work fielding each attempt cleanly. Footwork is developing in quickness and mobility but moved well for his size. Arm across the diamond showed nice strength at 74 mph.
6-foot-4, 225-pound strong body frame. Defensively he uses good, efficient footwork and moves well around the bag at first base. Throws with a clean arm action through a ¾ slot while recording 76 mph velocity across the infield. Swings with intent, middle of the lineup tools. On the mound the lefty throws using regular effort to his delivery. Has some shoulder tilt that he uses to help increase velocity to his pitches. Lands in a straight line at foot strike and finishes with his momentum carrying in good direction toward home plate. Throws with a clean arm action and average arm speed coming through a high ¾ slot. His fastball was thrown at 76-78 mph. Has a good curveball that has sharp break to it with 1/7 tilt at 64-65 mph. Throws his changeup using fastball arm speed between 70-71 mph.
A 6-foot-3, 205-pound strong frame. At the plate he starts in a wide setup before taking his hands back during his short stride forward. Has good strength through the zone with quickness in his bat. Takes a flat path to the ball. Could use more of his lower half. Top exit velocity was 83 mph. At first base he showed confidence in his glove with some quickness to his footwork. Would be aided by playing lower as he gets off the bag. Threw across the infield with 69 mph arm strength. On the mound he works through a high ¾ slot with above average armspeed. Fastball had some run to it while sitting between 73-75 mph. Also flashed a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with some sharpness to it at 59-60 mph.
6/15/16
6-foot-3, 205-pound athletic body frame. On the mound he uses a full, hands over the head wind up in a delivery in which he uses regular effort. He uses simple mechanics with a straight up and down leg kick, landing in a straight line at foot strike, and finishes with his momentum carrying toward home plate. Would like to see him incorporate more torque with his lower half. Throws with a shorter arm action, using average arm speed through a ¾ slot. His fastball was thrown between 74-76 mph and also threw a two-seam fastball with arm-side run at 76 mph. Has a tendency to want to guide his curveball and could improve the pitch by throwing it with quicker arm speed. The curveball has a 1/7 tilt with gradual break to it between 60-61 mph. He also has a tendency to slow his body down a little with his changeup at 67-68 mph. Showcased a knuckle ball with some tumble to it at 66 mph.
