6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect with physically impressive build. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows obvious power potential in his swing. Good use of his lower half. Uphill path to the ball. Gets extension. Ball jumps off the bat. Top exit velocity of 89 mph. Ran 4.54 home to first time. Defensively, he typically works out as a catcher, but worked in outfield on this occasion. In the outfield, projects as a corner type. Still getting feel for the position with his footwork from the outfield. Top velocity of 77 mph on his throws.
6/16/14
6-foot-1, 205-pound physical body frame. Catcher shows the right footwork but needs to continue to work on overall quickness with feet and transfer to throw. Uses a short arm action that produced a top velocity of 73 mph. His pop times were between a 2.26-2.32. Right-handed hitter starts with a balanced set up using a good fluid hands back to shoulder trigger. Shows the ability to use both parts of the field well. Reached a top exit velocity of 81 mph that produces doubles type power. Showed good balance and ability to hit a curveball squaring up a double during a game at bat. He ran a 4.78 down the line.
2/17/14
6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect with mature, physical frame. Looks the part. From the crouch, he reached a top velocity of 74 mph. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Efficient actions. Footwork has some room for improvement. Should only get better as quickness improves. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Uses a short stride. Hands have some quickness in them, but tendency to wrap creates some length. Good raw power in his swing. Interesting follow if it all comes together. Top exit velocity of 82 mph.
2/18/13
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound catcher has a physically developed frame for a freshman. Registered a 7.46 60-yard dash. Behind the plate, he uses short arm action. Shows quickness with his hands. Needs to shorten up footwork to help decrease length of transfer. Registered 2.25-2.30 pop times and top velocity of 70 mph from the crouch. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a long stride. Starts hands from shoulder trigger and takes uphill path to the ball. Shows power potential. Consistently squares the ball up.
