6-foot, 165-pound southpaw has quietly emerged as one of the top southpaws to come on our radar this winter. Throws with some quickness through 3/4 arm slot with long, loose arm action. Will be exciting to see him continue to make jumps over the next 6-18 months. Delivery is repeatable. Actions just look easy and natural. Fastball shows good run at 80-81 mph. Breaking ball has sharp, two-plane action at 71-74 mph. Also demonstrated command of a 73-76 mph changeup thrown near fastball arm speed. Definite follow. Projects as a left-handed pitcher, but also showed potential as a position player. Ran a 7.27 60 yard dash. Good feel for the outfield position with top velocity of 86 mph. Good carry to his throws. Still has some work to do at the plate. Athletic stance. Long stride. Back half tends to collapse a bit in his swing. Short, level path with top exit velocity of 79 mph off the tee
2/8/14
6-foot, 170-pound prospect with lean, athletic frame. Projectable arm that figures to add velocity as he matures. Throws through 3/4 arm slot with long arm action. Shows quickness in his arm. Delivery is smooth, but tendency to sit a bit on his back leg. Fastball shows cutting action at 77-79 mph. Breaking ball has tight 10/4 action at 65-67 mph. Located the pitch well in the zone. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed with some fade at 67-69 mph.
