2/8/14
6-foot-1, 230-pound catching prospect with solid, muscular frame. Has made continual improvements in his game over the past two years. Behind the plate, he uses short arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 75 mph from the crouch with some quickness to his transfer. Pop times ranged between 2.22 to 2.41. Still has some room for improvement with his footwork. At the plate, the big right-handed hitter starts from a balanced stance. Uses a small, simple load in his swing. Takes short, slight uphill path to the ball. Solid contact off the bat. Registered top exit velocity of 80 mph.
6-foot, 220-pound catcher with big, solid frame. Uses short arm action through over the top arm slot. Pop times ranged between 2.14-2.36. Will improve as footwork becomes more fluid and transfer shortens up. Reached top velocity of 71 mph out of the crouch. At present, his best tool is his bat. May eventually make the shift to first base. Uses balanced stance with short stride. Good use of strong lower half. Consistently squared up the baseball in batting practice with pull power. Ran a 4.68 out of the box.
2/10/13
6-foot, 215-pound catcher with wide shoulders and a strong lower half. Continues to show improvement in his game and physical development. Starts from a wide base. Needs to improve speed of his footwork behind the plate. Uses short arm action while reaching top velocity of 67 mph and a top pop time of 2.29 pop time. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows rotational mechanics in his swing with a short stride. There is little wasted movement with his upper half. He is quick to the ball from a shoulder trigger load. Shows slight uphill path to the ball with power potential.
10/14/12
6-foot, 220-pound prospect. Shows some potential with his bat. Hits from upright stance. Swing is compact from shoulder trigger. Power potential. Showed good hand finish in swing with lower body torque. Needs improvement with raw skills (7.56 60 yard dash and 65 arm strength). Catching also needs improved footwork and glove to hand exchange (2.28/2.31 split).
1/28/12
Strong, stocky build. Shows 5.76 40 yd speed with 4 grade arm. Shows adequate corner range in infield but feet are heavy. Likely better suited behind the plate as a catcher. Shows low target and moves well laterally. Needs to improve hand to glove exchange (2.0-2.19 pop time with 56-64 mph velocity). Offensively, he shows good hand strength and pop in his bat with pull tendencies. At times, he tends to wrap the bat in his load.
