2/17/14
Davis is a big, physical prospect with an ideal frame. Like Russo, he has made strides since this past summer. He was easily one of the most physically developed players in attendance. Behind the plate, he impressed with exceptional quickness in his hands and transfer. His pop times ranged from 1.91 to 2.07. His actions require some effort, which brings into question the repeatability of his throws, but on this occasion, he showed accuracy around the bag. At the plate, Davis projects as a middle of the order bat. He starts in a balanced stance with a short stride. He uses an aggressive swing with quick bat speed and an uphill path. Davis shows good barrel whip and creates good lift off the bat. He posses obvious pull power in his swing. If he doesn't work out as a catcher, Davis could project as an offensive first baseman.
