6/6/16 6-foot-1, 205-pound athletic frame. His athleticism shows in his swing as he has obvious whip through the zone with strength at contact. Using a leg kick he is able to create efficient energy with his lower half before letting his flat path go to work. Ball came off his bat nicely in batting practice and has gap to gap pop at this point. Registered an exit velocity of 92 mph and ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. Elite presence on the field. Looks the part. Has an above average arm with good finish and downhill torque. Top velocity of 84 mph. Fielding concerns at times as he works backwards instead of forward. Also showed well on the mound. The lefty has a three pitch mix in his arsenal while working through a high ¾ slot. Fastball was anywhere from 82-86 mph with run to it. Curveball has tight, sharp action with a 1/7 shape at 65-68 mph. Also mixed in a changeup that had similar action to his fastball.
2/20/15 A very athletic, talented outfielder with a physical build at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. He uses a simple approach at the plate to let his strength and batspeed take over. Would like to see him loosen up a little at the plate to let more of that athleticism come into play. Gets through the zone on a level path and consistently squared the ball up in batting practice. Reached a top exit velocity of 87 mph with much more in the tank. In the outfield he moves fluidly and is able to play through the ball with little wasted movement as he gets into his crow hop. With loose arm action he threw to home plate with impressive 87 mph arm strength. Ran a 4.09 from home to first.
6/30/15 6-foot, 195-pound athletic body frame. From the outfield he uses good footwork to approach ground balls and fields glove side, with his hand out in front near his right foot. He throws with a shorter arm action coming from a ¾ slot, using 84 mph velocity. Left-handed hitter starts from a tall stance, using an inward turn with his front foot as a timing mechanism. He swings with a slightly upward bat path, finishing with a high, two-handed follow through. He did a nice job of showing the ability to use both sides of the field during his round of batting practice. Showed strength in a plate appearance during the game portion of the event when he tripled to right-center field, two-hopping the wall. Reached a top exit velocity of 83 mph and ran a 4.55 out of the batter’s box to first base. On the mound he uses regular effort to his delivery. He lands slightly more closed at foot strike. Throws using average arm speed through a ¾ slot. His fastball was between 78-80 mph. His curveball has good depth with 1/7 tilt at 61-65 mph. He threw his changeup using fastball arm speed between 67-68 mph.
