6-foot, 160-pound southpaw with solid frame. Throws with above average arm speed through high ¾ arm slot. Uses a smooth rhythm. Tends to throw a bit across his body. Fastball sat 84-86 mph with a bit of run to it, but struggled with command at times. Also uses a 66-68 mph breaking ball with good depth.
2/24/13
The 6-foot, 163-pound southpaw showed an 84-85 mph fastball with some run to it. He showed good command of a 67-69 mph curveball with late, 1/7 break. His changeup shows occasional fade at 73-75 mph. His delivery requires some effort, but Bueter will find his services in demand in a 2014 class thin on pitching. His delivery still requires some effort, but he continues to look better each time that we see him.
8/8/12
6-foot, 150-pound potential two-way prospect. Athletic, solid build. Registered a 7.00 60-yard dash. From the outfield, shows quick arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Reached top velocity of 85 mph. At the plate, he hits from the right side. Starts with wide base with a short stride. Good bat speed with some strength in his hands. Short, level path to the ball. On the mound, the southpaw shows quick arm action. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball sits 80-83 mph with some cut. Curveball shows late, 2/8 break at 67-69 mph while changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed at 69-71 mph.
Bueter is a definite follow in the Class of 2014. At the next level, he likely projects as a pitcher. On the mound, he uses a high 3/4 slot and quick arm speed to generate a consistent 79-80 mph fastball. His curveball, which is more of a slurve, has a downward 1/7 break. He threw the pitch at 68-69 mph for strikes. His changeup, which was 72-74 mph and erratic at times, shows some sink. From the outfield, he shows above average arm strength with 80 mph velocity and carry on his throws. At the plate, he uses a tall, upright stance with a small leg kick. He uses a short, slight-uphill path to the ball that creates some power. He registered a 7.27 60-yard dash on a slow track. (Axel’s older brother, Austin, was a late bloomer and is now a tall, projectable RHP and member of Ohio Dominican’s Class of 2011)
