Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Big frame with good strength. Solid tempo with actions. Controls his body well. Smooth swing with hard contact. Above average bat speed and leverage. Loose and easy actions when loading/striding. Solid defensive work. Great approach at the plate with hard line drive single to CF in Game 1 @ UE. RHP: Tall wiry frame with athletic attributes. Smooth and steady tempo with great control. Long arm take away with a quick action to get arm up for release. FB range 75-77 with armside run. Poised and in control with visible confidence on the mound. Works down in the zone well and CB/SLD has good late break and 11/5 action
Future Games (August 2, 2017)
Physical 6-foot-3 180 pound infielder who ran a 7.12 60. Offensively- Feet just outside shoulders with weight posted up on his back leg; slight barrel tip towards the mound. Short stride and hands are pre-loaded; stays behind the ball with an adequate lower half effort. Line-to-line approach with power potential if extension/weight transfer improve. Exit velocity was 86 MPH. Defensively- Steady defender with no panic in his approach, hands work out in front, multiple arm angles on throws with best velocity checking in at 83 MPH. Possible 3B projection or even corner outfield with his athleticism. Pitching- Quiet side step up to a mid-chest balance point; slight coil showing back to the plate with hands resting just above the belt. Gets up and over front side with some downward tilt to his fastball at 82-83 MPH, breaking ball featured 12-to-6 action at 68-69 MPH and he also worked in a change with arm side fade at 73-77 MPH.
MA/NH Top Prospect Games (June 28, 2017)
6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder who can pitch as well. Versatile athlete who fits the model of a left-handed hitting infielder with a chance to be physical. Ran a 4.6 down the line on his dig, as that will have to improve as he ages. Defensively- The glove is soft and appropriate as shortstop. The feet work and the slot is a bit long to handle the pivot but time will tell if he stays or moves to the corner. He made all the plays in the game.Threw 83 mph across the diamond Offensively- The bat has a tee exit velocity of 86 mph from the left-side. Sets up with his feet wide and stays in his legs at contact. The swing sinks in plane a little cause controlling the height of the back shoulder needs to be tweaked. The hands work and when he flattens that bat plane and works above the ball, he will be in better position for success. Pitching- On the mound, the fastball touched 83 mph with heavy life and action. The spin pitch is 68, the shape is correct but he needs more hands speed to it. The changeup is good and still developing, sits at 75 mph. The delivery is methodical pitches out of a plus ¾ slot. The direction to home is good and he is online with his feet. The posture needs to make sure it doesn’t fall back at lift. Hasn’t pitched a great deal but with innings, he could be a legit reliever.
