New England Academic Games I (July 25, 2017)
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Threw 75 mph down to second base at the workout. Pop time of 2.0. The receiving is solid, does a nice job securing the catch and blocking. Showed well defensively in the game, hosing a runner and blocking efficiently. Ran a 4.62 down the line on his dig to first base. Offensively, tee exit velocity of 83 mph as additional physical strength is needed. Sets up with his feet semi-wide and relaxed hands. The swing is long to contact, needs to be shortened to the ball to help impact. The hands work freely and the bottom half of the swing is under control throughout.
5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Threw 74 mph from behind the dish. The pop time was 2.03. The footwork and the transfer can improve through practice and hard work. The path to throw is short and his throws are accurate. The receiving is solid, working on securing the catch is a must as he develops. Ran a 4.65 on his dig to first base. The bat had a tee exit velocity of 83 mph. Swung the bat well in the game, getting 2 hits in live action. The set up even with his feet and hands. The hands have life to them. The path needs to get flattened as the bat head is in and out of the strike zone too quickly. The pull side is his go to right now as the front part of his body needs to stay on the ball.
