Stands at 6-foot-1, 212 pounds, with an athletic body build.  Pitching - On the mound, he uses a simple side step, balanced delivery, arm action is fairly clean and loose, throws from multi arm slots, but uses a side arm delivery more often.  He drives from balanced position and finishes over his front side consistently.  He exhibits good command with a fastball max at 80 MPH.  His pitches could present problems for hitters due to the movement on the ball.

Merlino Stands in at 6-foot-2, 212-pounds with good size at the corner. In the field he lets his glove face turn and is passive at times to the ball, fields ball straight on.  Smooth hands and clean exchange however transfer is slow.  Down and long arm-action with a low ¾ arm-slot and recoils his throw.  Some carry on ball.  Arm velocity registered at 72mph.  At the plate he starts open with his hands high.  Loads back into the catcher with a short and balanced stride.  Short and quick to the ball with bat path level through the hitting zone.  Hands stay inside the ball, and hips stay closed.  Finishes over the shoulder with balance and power. Exit velocity 84mph, home to first time 4.75.   Projected to be a well-rounded pitcher and fielder in college. Due to a great bat I can see him being of more use with hitting then pitching. Pitching - Merlino stands 6-foot-1, 212-pounds with a strong frame. On the mound he uses a side-step, slower delivery, high knee lift, hands high. Rotates shoulders some, drives off back side, arm action is back. Throws from an over-the-top slot, fastball sits 80 mph, arm and delivery show effort. Finishes over his front side
