2/15/15
Jones stands 5-foot-10, 175-pounds with a next-level frame. From the mound he uses a quick tempo creating positive momentum, shoulder separation. Arm action is low and back, hand speed is above average. Fastball sat 83 mph with arm side angle, reports up to 86-87. Curveball is a plus pitch with late hard spin, 10/4 shape. Jones will be followed closely this spring by our scouting staff, expect big things.
1/2/15
Jones stands 5-foot-10, 175-pounds and built very solidly.
From the mound he uses a high knee lift, hands stay high, fast tempo, hands separate over rubber. Drops and drives hard towards home, hip opens up early, shoulders stay level. Arm action is down, back and quick with signs for above average velocity. He uses a long stride, throws from a mid-3/4 slot, long finish. He broke off a few curveballs that showed next-level spin, and bite. He finishes well over his front side.
Jones stands 5-foot-10, 165-pounds with a strong body build. On the mound he uses a very high leg lift, high hands, crouched over his belt before he drives home. Drops and drives off back leg, arm action is long and back towards 2B, throws from a mid-3/4 slot with a fastball sitting 82-84 mph arm side run. Changeup has hand speed at 70-74 with downward action late. At times his arm and wrist drop, he needs to focus on continued arm strength and keeping on top of the baseball. Interesting prospect to keep an eye on.
