May 2018
We got our third look of the season at Dirado versus Union Endicott and he did not disappoint.  Dirado pitched 6 innings of scoreless baseball, throwing 107 pitches - 72 for strikes, and yielding 2 hits with 14 K, and 4 BB. He used his fastball, change-up, and slider regularly, with the slider being especially effective.  Only one Tiger batter put the bat on his slider on this day. Velos were 84 to 86 on his FB topping out at 87. His changeup was at 76-77 and slider at 75.

May 2018
We got our second look of the season at Dirado versus Maine Endwell. He pitched 4 innings, yielded 1 hit, 1 R, 1 ER, 9 K, and 2 BB. He used his fastball, change-up, and slider regularly, with the change-up being consistently effective. Velos were 84 to 86 on his FB topping out at 87.  His changeup was at 76-77 and slider at 75.
April 2018
The 6-foot-1 195 pound lefty has put on 10 pounds of muscle since we last saw him. Used both his fastball and slider regularly, with the slider being consistently effective, but used all 4 pitches in his arsenal. Scattered 4 hits in 3 â innings of early season work with 5 Ks and 4 BBs. Velos are consistent with our previous measurements.

East-West Battle (July 2017)
Big bodied arm with a lot of potential. Fastball sat 80/81 and touched 84mph. Showed an effective changeup that got outs along with a late action breaking ball. Mechanics need to be fine tuned to be more consistent in the zone, but has a high ceiling. Struck out 10 batters in 4 innings of work in their opening game of the tournament.
NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Impressive 6-foot-1, 185 LHP with a projectable body.  Pitching  - uses positive hip tilt at the balance point for a fastball at 84-86 MPH that touched 87 MPH (+3 since February), uses height to get downward plane, but changes eye level, dots I’s on both sides of the plate, clean and loose arm action, effortless with a quick delivery that adds to the perception of the velocity, hard, late bite on slider at 72-73 MPH mixed with 12-to-6 curveball, next-level talent.
Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)
Broad shouldered LHP at 6-foot-1 180 pounds. Pitching- Starts staggered to the plate using a short side step; quiet, repeatable delivery with a FB that sat 82-84 MPH from a 3/4 slot. Late tilt to slider at 74 MPH, good feel for his change with demonstrated arm side fade at 77 MPH. Peaked at 80 MPH in June with at the NYS Games, has filled out and shown impressive gains before stepping on the field in late March. Expecting a breakout spring for the lefty.
New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
DiRado is a filled out; athletic 6-foot-1 180 pound LHP/1B. He ran a 7.50 60. Offensively-  The RHH  starts in a spread; slightly open stance with hands in a strong start position just off the body, even with his back shoulder. Slight upward lift with his load as stride gains a small amount of ground forward. Aggressive lower half rotation; explodes through the ball with a repeatable stroke; high one-handed finish. Exit velocity was 84 MPH but played better than that as he showed some opposite field pop during the games and handled some respectable pitching. Middle of the order type threat.  Defensively- Arm strength  at 1B was 78 MPH, more than suitable for starting the front end of double plays. Quick off the bag; gets into fielding position; athletic/agile actions getting body into throwing position. More than an adequate defender.     Pitching- On the mound DiRado sets up center rubber with a steady build up to a balance point just above his belt. Clean break of the hands with a long, loose arm action that works through a ¾ slot. Repeats delivery; gets up and over front side with slight trail off to the 3B side. FB sat 77-79 MPH; touching 80 MPH. Sharp; late breaking CB at 66-68 MPH; effective weapon against LHH as it featured some 1-to-7 break. Change up (70-71); once his comfort level improves will be a nice addition. Maintains plane with proper differential.
