NY State Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Berry is a fast twitch/explosive 5’10, 160-pound OF/SS. He runs a 6.78 60. Offensively- Hands start at shoulder height with bat tap rhythm during load. Loads with low leg kick to generate power from back side. Hands are quick to the ball, has quick hips and a bit of an upward angle to his swing. Finishes tall with slight bend to front leg, high 2-hand finish. Exit velocity: 86 MPH. Defensively- Great use of momentum when coming through the ball in the outfield. Throws 89 MPH from the outfield and follows throw extremely well. Berry uses his speed and quickness to get his feet right while coming through balls hit to him in the infield. Keeps head down and has quick transfer to go with his 85 MPH arm across the diamond. Can throw from all arm angles in infield and outfield and is very athletic.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Berry is a gifted athlete who we have seen already a handful of times. The tools are all present, the rawness is the question that still needs some answers. He stands 5-foot-10, 160-pounds with a lean, strong build. Offensively - slightly open stance to start with hands around his chin with some play in them. On the pitch he uses a high knee lift back to even with a stride, hands power to the ball (86 mph exit velo) on a short path, barrel stays level quick with some lift to his extension. Good balance through his finish. Next-level bat to follow. Defensively - extremely gifted athletically with a very smooth active lower half. Clean soft glove with a quick fluid transfer. From the OF he projects high with great range, powerful arm (89 mph) from a high-3/4 slot with carry, Berry has all the makings of top-end prospect.
New York Games (July 7-9, 2016)
Stands 5-foot-10, 150-pounds with an athletic body. Defensively- Very aggressive approach in field with quick hands and rangy, clean loose arm action with good strength and accuracy. Receives pitches clean with soft hands and has fast footwork during transfer. Offensively- At the plate shows a relaxed, balanced setup. Appears to have no load with a long stride to the pitch, hands could quicken to help bat path through the zone. Extension is short and compact with an athletic high-finish. Shows some projection with the bat if he continues to put in the hard work.
Preseason All-State (February 15, 2015)
Stands a lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 150-pounds oozing projection. Defensively- Behind the plate his footwork is lightning fast, arm strength (82 mph) way above average, consistent pop-time at 1.85 - 1.94. He also showed very well from SS and in the OF showing off his versatile game. Offensively- With the bat he shows a relaxed approach, athletic swing with gap-gap contact. Hands go back on the pitch, slight leg lift with short stride. Short path to the ball, slightly inclined plane, brings his hands high through contact, plus extension, high finish.
