Andrew Sipowicz, RHP, Orchard Park HS, NY (2015)

8-16-14
Sipowicz stands 6-foot-2 210-pounds with an athletic, strong frame. On the mound he uses a balanced leg lift with a strong backside drop and drive. His shoulder alignment is great, has a clean arm action and throws from a mid ¾ slot. He uses great extension on his release and finishes over his front side. His fastball sat 85-86 mph with downward action and run to the arm side. His curveball sat 69-73 showing the ability to spin it with a 12/6 shape with gradual break.

1B/Hitting - At first base he fields with a wide base and low. Transfer is clean and quick to a short arm action from a low 3/4 slot. At the plate his stance is wide and tall, bat is flat, hands are high. On the pitch he brings the barrel up and back loads, transfers his weight to his back leg and starts his hands. He stays inside the baseball, above average bat speed at 91 mph, barrel stays slightly inclined through the zone, has extension after contact and a high, balanced finish.

7-15-14
Sipowicz stands 6-foot-2 210-pounds and has the body of a next level guy. He throws form a high 3/4 slot with a fastball sitting 84-85 mph with heavy action. He shows a 70 mph curveball that he slows his arm some on with 11/5 shape. Mechanically he stays tucked, over his belt and drives hard to home using his legs and hips well. He could finish his pitches a little better out in front. At the plate he sets up wide, athletic, and with his hands high. He uses a no stride, back load, and has a level bat path through the zone with his hands staying inside the ball. He generates a lot of force with an 89 mph exit velocity off a tee. At first base he fields the ball athletically setting his body up in the proper position for the throw to third. He throws from a mid 3/4 slot at 76 mph but there is more arm strength in the tank. He ran a 7.38 60 yard dash.
