Ulliana

Ulliana was much improved in all aspects of his game at the NJ Open ID, especially on the defensive end. He showed the ability to be a highest level receiver and blocker. He also threw 75 miles-per-hour down to second base with pop times of 1.88-1.95. He was on the bag and very consistent.

Offensively, the 6-foot-2 catcher showed a simple, repeatable approach while making loud contact. His balance was much improved which resulted in more consistency throughout his BP round. He barreled baseballs with plus pop and back spin, sending a bunch of balls deep into the LCF gap.

Ulliana is a 6-foot-2 catcher who has a strong build and wide shoulders. Offensively, the catching prospect showcased the highest exit velocity of the day off of the tee (94 MPH) and the ball screams off his bat when barreled. He start with a slightly open stance and has a toe tap which gets him to even when he gets to his hitting position. Well loaded, Ulliana shows a constant attack mode, displaying bat speed and leverage in his swing. He had good extension and drives the ball consistently with gap-to-gap pop.

Defensively, Ulliana has shown the ability to be an above average receiver and thrower. His top pop time was a 1.94 down to second base and it is largely due to an excellent and consistent transfer time. His throws were on the bag and consistent in-game as well. He is an offensive catcher who should receive solid interest this summer.
