Nick Seccia, 3B/OF, Gloucester Catholic, 2016
9/19/15 – Seccia is still one of the better hitting prospects I’ve seen this summer from the 2016 class. He has shown the ability to really be able to drive the ball as he swings hard and aggressively. He is smooth and repeatable in the box and likes to hunt fastballs. He can go the other way with fastballs on the outer half, proving my only initial concern to be wrong. Defensively, he has a strong arm and probably profiles best at third or first base. He has good actions but foot speed is an issue. I think he can hit at all levels and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
7/16/15 – Seccia is 6-foot, 220 pounds and has done a nice job of leaning out since the spring season which has certainly helped him. He was one of the strongest bats to attend the event, showing premium raw power and the ability to hit quality pitching. He hits from an athletic stance and swings hard and aggressive. He has plus pop from gap-to-gap and creates great back spin. The ball jumps off the barrel. Defensively, Seccia has some working tools, particularly an average glove and an 85 mile-per-hour arm across the diamond. I look for Seccia to get a lot of action throughout the rest of the summer.
